A Day in the Life of an Edtech Coach (10/22/26)

Made with Gemini
  • Updated the coaching website with Common Sense Media digital citizenship lessons and 3rd and 5th grade SBAC reading practice on Wayground.
  • Collaborated with a kindergarten teacher on sight word media created with Gemini and Google Vids, and planned a Snorkl CVC writing demo.
  • Scheduled a tech and AI efficiency training for the district HR department.

Every day as an educational technology coach brings new opportunities to support teachers and students across the district. My morning began by refreshing my coaching website with updated instructional materials. I added curated digital citizenship lessons from Common Sense Media to help teachers guide students in making responsible choices online. Alongside those resources, I built new SBAC practice activities focused on third and fifth grade reading comprehension.

To create these reading activities, I remixed released practice questions and texts with Gemini, and hosted them on Wayground. Using the artificial intelligence tool inside Wayground, I quickly extracted comprehension questions directly from the remixed text and imported them into the platform. This approach saved a significant amount of preparation time. Now, classroom teachers can easily assign these practice activities on Wayground and collect valuable data on student progress to inform their instruction.

Later in the day, I met with a kindergarten teacher to continue refining her collection of sight word resources. Together, we reviewed short instructional videos, interactive soundboards, and matching games that we originally co-created last year through vibe coding on Gemini and building media in Google Vids. Seeing how a foundational project from last year continues to grow and support a new group of young learners is always encouraging. During our planning session, we also explored Snorkl for an upcoming writing activity. We mapped out a demo lesson where students will practice writing consonant, vowel, consonant words inside a complete sentence while receiving feedback.

Supporting a school district also means looking beyond the classroom to help administrative staff work more effectively. Before wrapping up the day, I took time to schedule a professional development session with our district human resources department. Our upcoming training will focus on practical technology and artificial intelligence tools designed to improve daily workflow efficiency.

Whether updating a resource hub, collaborating on early literacy games, or helping district staff streamline their tasks, technology integration is all about making daily work more manageable and meaningful for everyone in our school community.

This blog post was drafted with the help of Google Gemini to help organize and flesh out my thoughts and ideas regarding a day in my life as an edtech coach. I also used Gemini Notebook to generate a brief audio overview, perfect for those who want to listen and learn on the go.
